V&A Digital Design Weekend – London, 24-25 September 2016

Now in its sixth year, the Digital Design Weekend brings together over a hundred artists, designers, technologists and the public, to share contemporary digital art and design, take part in interactive installations and labs, engage in conversations, and learn about processes.

Immersive Virtual Reality had its early beginnings in the early sixties but it was in the 90s, when it hit the mainstream, becoming extremely popular. In January 1990, during the first ArtFutura edition in Barcelona, the public was able to experience, for the first time in Europe, a Virtual Reality prototype. Now in its 27th edition, ArtFutura will reflect on the perspective of all these years.

Artist opportunity for the Sir Maurice Wilkes Building, St John’s Innovation Park, Cambridge – deadline 5 September 2016

Place Services is seeking applications from artists with experience of working in the public realm whose practice explores the cross-over between the Arts and (computer) Sciences. The proposed artwork is to be located at the St John’s Innovation Park, Cambridge for the new ā€˜Sir Maurice Wilkes Building. The building will be a prominent landmark, with the artwork designed as a focus of celebration for the discoveries of Sir Maurice Wilkes.

Metasis is Goldsmiths 2016 MA/MFA Computational Arts degree show. It is the result of a year of intense study, equally focused on technical and critical aspects of computational arts. The works on show illustrate the versatility of computational applications when introduced to fine art. They demonstrate interactive, generative and procedural techniques, ranging from critiquing the autonomy of the system to the role of the artist.
