The Computer Arts Society was established in the UK in 1968 by George Mallen, Alan Sutcliffe and John Lansdown and pioneered the development of computer arts in the UK and worldwide. To celebrate 50 years since the founding of the society we will be supporting a number of events and activities in 2018 and 2019.

On Thursday 14th September, join Mark Amerika, Dene Grigar and Nick Lambert at a reception at the Gordon Square Cinema, Birkbeck. On Friday 15th September, we have a significant symposium about Mark’s work in the context of Electronic Literature, at the British Computer Society in Covent Garden.
CAS May Lecture – Dr Sharon Irish on Stephen Willats – London, 9 May 2016, 6pm
In the 1970s, artist Stephen Willats explored participation and interaction within an art context. He created the means to collect, sort, code, process, and use data to foster exchanges, essentially performing information flows using computers to help examine social systems.
