Digital Artist Residency, Barrow Association Football Club – deadline 23 November 2007

Artists working in digital media and engaging with site, place, identity and/or aspects of the vernacular are invited to apply for an Artists’ Residency with Barrow Association Football Club, Barrow In Furness, Cumbria, UK. Through a process of engagement with the club, its environs and the people involved with it, the artist will produce a temporary site- specific artwork for installation in or around the ground or in a public place with relevance to the club.

The piece will be installed in advance of the new season in August 2008. The work will examine and represent the club’s identity in relation to the area it serves and the place football occupies within the wider culture. In addition the artist will be required to lead two sessions for a local schools group. These will take place at the school or at the Playing For Success Study Centre at Barrow AFC’S ground and will contribute to the development of a piece of work by the group relating to the artists’ practice, and their ideas about the project.

The artists fee will be £5000 with a small sum in addition for accommodation and travel and a further sum for materials and installation costs. While a digital workspace can be provided for agreed periods it is anticipated that the artist will provide their own hardware and software and may wish to use their own studio space.

The residency will begin in JANUARY 2008.
The deadline for complete applications is NOVEMBER 23 2007
