Song of the Data Stream is an ongoing web-project which embodies the artist Sarah Jacobs’s lifelong preoccupation with the narratives of science and with works of the imagination. It can be accessed at http://www.songofthedatastream.net/song.html

The site contains dozens of hyperlinks to YouTube videos. Some of these relate to the themes of the Song, while others have been chosen to present a systematic if partial snapshot of videos uploaded mainly by members of the public on specific dates. There is an allied YouTube channel containing videos produced by Jacobs working as Scanning Skimming.

Meaning is carried by the images and the sequence of web pages; and in the page titles (best displayed in Mozillla Firefox) and the tooltips which can be found by hovering on individual images.
