Now seeking submissions that expand the definition of a portrait, to be exhibited April 28 – June 9 2007 at Eyedrum.
Portraiture is the practice and result of documenting a person. Its nothing new. Commonly portraits communicate a visual appearance. When it acts outside the norm, the subject of a portrait may not be a visual depiction of a person. Other clues are present that give the audience information about the subject. Their mannerisms, emotions, hobbies come to life. Imagine what iconic representations, even allusions to reputations begin to describe a person.
The goal of this exhibit intends to illuminate the full spectrum of portraiture. Any way an artist can convey the essence of a person, visually, written or in 3/4d is now a Contemporary Portrait.
