Open Call for 2 – 12 Months residencies for Scholars, Artists and Practitioners at ZKU, Berlin – deadline 31 October 2012

In the summer of 2012 the Center for Art and Urbanistics / Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanstik (ZKU) will launch its research and residency program. The ZKU offers a space for ‘living & work’: furnished accommodation with mostly private bathroom, studio, wifi, communal facilities, shared and private production areas, and a dynamic program of public events, lectures, performance and presentations. The residency is partly funded by ZKU. The resident’s costs will between 470 and 880 euro a month.After being selected, ZKU will support the invited residential fellow in their efforts to secure funding through external grants by providing the fellow with an official invitation and identifying relevant funding networks and grants. ZKU welcomes artists, scholars and practitioners (curators, activists, autodidacts etc.) interested in cross-disciplinary theory and practice dealing with the city.

The ZKU concept and practice were initiated by the artist collective and non-profit organization KUNSTrePUBLIK e.V.. The association managed to become the owner of the former railway depot and holds a 40 year lease on the ground. KUNSTrePUBLIK‘s concepts and projects are equally focused on local involvement and global exchange.
