IEEE VIS 2016 Arts Program
Call for Entries, Paper and Exhibition Tracks
Submissions due June 24
The IEEE VIS 2016 Arts Program, or VISAP’16, showcases innovative artwork and research that explores the exciting and increasingly prominent intersections between art, design, and visualization. Through a dedicated papers track and an exhibition that runs concurrently with the IEEE VIS 2016 conference, the Arts Program aims to foster new thinking, discussion, and collaboration between artists, designers, technologists, visualization scientists, and others working at the intersection of these fields.
The theme for the Call for Papers and Artworks this year is “Metamorphoses.” We are especially interested in projects and papers that explore the relationships between visualization research and arts and/or design practice, and that introduce creative visual techniques that emphasize transformative aspects of scientific or cultural exploration.
VISAP’16 runs for one week October 23rd through October 28th Baltimore, Maryland USA during the IEEE VIS 2016 conference
Both the artworks and the papers are selected through a rigorous peer review process. Submissions are evaluated on quality and relevance to the IEEE VIS community by a program committee made up of experts in visualization, media arts, and design. In 2015, the acceptance rate for artworks was 14.75% and the acceptance rate for papers was 25%; we expect it to be similarly competitive for the 2016 program.
Submissions to VISAP’16 are due on June 24th at 5pm PDT
