The Locative Cinema Commission is a joint project of ZER01: The Art and Technology Network, the Banff New Media Institute at The Banff Centre, and the New Frontier program at the Sundance Institute’s New Frontier Initiative.

We are soliciting proposals that can generalize the platform of specific places such as San Jose, California, Banff, Canada, or Park City, Utah, to describe the world that you want people to see. The commission will be realized via a residency at the Banff New Media Institute to be completed by July 2010.

Interactive Screen 0.9: The Makers
Program dates: August 10-15, 2009
Registrations will be accepted until the program is full.
Senior Artists: Steve Dietz, Myriel Milocevic, and Adam Zaretsky, and more!

Interactive Screen 0.9. The Makers pursues the reflection on our modes of cultural production, interpretation and consumption. Making something, whether it is a work of art or a technological innovation, a production model or a legal framework, is ultimately an expression of culture. Where do the tools and networks of new media practice intersect with these concerns?

Part conference, part festival, part peer exchange, part creative workshop, Interactive Screen is always intensive. Over a week of work and play, participants engage in constant dialogue and collaboration through various panels, workshops, and performances. Together, they delve into the creative, social, and business impacts of content, technologies, and networks.
